As 2011 shuffles off this temporal coil and is swept into the wings, a new year is poised to stride boldly onto the stage, one whose immense reputation has resulted in a turnout of anxious fans on a scale not seen since 2000's debut which, ultimately, proved lackluster.

Yes, the annum you've all been waiting for is just about here: 2012!

Will 2012 live up to all the hype of the last decade and be the real end of days? Will mankind and possibly all life on Earth cease to be in some as yet unknown global calamity? Will paranoid whackos ever shut up about doomsday after the year passes? It all remains to be seen as people take their seats, the lights dim, the curtain rises, and everyone awaits with bated breath a performance sure to thrill some, and confuse and disappoint others.

Since people have been making up anything they like as 2012 predictions for years now, why not share some of your own? If we look back on this thread a year from now, we can see who among us is the next Nostradamus. Assuming we're all still here, anyway.

I predict that in 2012:

  • Charlie Sheen will die of self-inflicted causes.
  • Scientists will develop a device capable of teleporting mice several meters.
  • Ron Paul will be shafted out of another shot at President.
  • The Atlantic hurricane season will spawn a cyclone that finally makes landfall over Jacksonville.
  • The Hobbit won't really bring anything new to the table over the LotR films, but will gross a sickening amount of money anyway.
  • Lady Gaga will experience a wardrobe malfunction when one of the supposedly dead animals she was wearing as part of her costume suddenly wakes up and bites her ear off.
  • Halo 4 will come out and absolutely no one will care.
  • The Youtube video "JESUS CHRIST IN RICHMOND PARK" will rise to the top 5 most watched videos.
  • A new genre of porn will be developed in Japan which will lead to a UN emergency session to consider sanctions.
  • I will, once again, fail to pursue piano lessons.

Have a Happy New Year, y'all. I leave you with this.

hahaha. All those actually sound quite reasonable . And I think I'll add that last one to me as well >.>

Off to Kentucky and Tennessee for New years weekend. Hope everyone has a great new year (And try not to get TOO drunk. Oh, who am I kidding. Go get some alcohol poisoning).

I probably said this last year, too, but I'll say it here again. I love how people get all worked up over the new year like the world's slate has been wiped clean and there are no problems anymore, and get all these awesome expectations for how the year's going to go, then get all depressed when they realize nothing's really changed and everything still sucks, then do it all over again the next year.

Happy New Year!

(That wasn't directed at anyone in particular, just something I thought was mildly amusing.)

  • Halo 4 will come out and absolutely no one will care.

  • LOL I find the likelihood of armageddon more probable than that.
Maybe one day when people get tired of modern warfarce 20 billion, but I wouldn't count on it.

    Happy new year folks

EDIT: it seems the approaching space mayan cthulhu warped the space-time continuum and caused a double post to occur, obviously this means bad news.

Ah, New Year's. I have nothing to do tonight, as of yet, so maybe a little alcohol poisoning will make things better. Here's to a great year to come!

Jumped JU's perimeter fence so I could watch the downtown fireworks show from the riverfront. Had to hide in the overgrowth at the river's edge due to the after-hours security patrols.

Other than that, not a whole lot. Slept pretty soundly despite all the noise on my street.

    oh hey you

I had a pretty fun party at new years, was at a friend's lakeshore condo, good times all around, I don't remember much past midnight but from what I hear, I stayed safe and didn't do stupid things so it's all good

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Did anyone make any new years resolutions by the way?

We went to London for New Years to watch the fireworks (amazing!)
My new years resolution was to stop ranting about the utterly rubbish and diabolical service that our local rail service, First Capital Connect, provides. (Or First Crapital Connect as I like to called them.)
I was confident about the idea. And then this happened on the way home...
