Hello all, I am a n00b to the forums, so take it easy on me.

Anyways, like the title says, could there be DVDs when the season finishes out? I mean, will you run this machinima like RvB and do it in seasons? I'm not trying to say that you should base all of your actions on RvB, but I would like it if I didn't have to go to my computer to watch the episodes of season's past.

Here's the trick: we have to get permission from Microsoft to sell DVD's. Of course we would love to sell DVD's, and we hope that we will be able to, but as of now we do not have permission from Microsoft and thus we cannot promise anything.

And, on the topic of seasons, because The Codex is such a plot-driven story, we actually planned out the series as if it were a movie, with an over-arching plot line and a set story, and then divided it up into episodes for a series. Because of that, we do not have the endlessly stretchable story that Red vs Blue has. As of right now, only one "season" of The Codex is planned, and we have projected that it will be between 20 and 30 episodes long. We might decide to continue the story if it gets popular enough or if we get a great idea, but the resulting product will be more like a sequel to a movie, (hopefully a good sequel to a movie), rather than a second "season". In any case, having to download episodes from seasons past will probably not be a problem.

I hope this helps clear things up a bit. I cannot tell you how exciting it is to hear what popular reviews we are getting, and to have people planning for the second season before we release episode 3 is a huge compliment!

I see. Well, since RvB got permission to make DVDs, so you guys should be able to. I would personally buy 12 copies. 2 for me, and 10 for certain friends around here. And the idea of making it a movie and not a season seems like a good idea, to difference yourselves from RvB and other machinimas.

Well, it's not easy to get bunige to say you can make DvD's, you think these guys are just going to stroll up and say
"high, we'd like to use halo 2 like RvB and sell DvD's, can you let us" Hey have to first get really popular, and then some other stuff, and crap, and stuff. As you acn see, LS, it's a long and complicated process,

P.S, I pwn you in the battle, my l33t flood skillz own u

STFU and stay on topic. I don't want to look like a complete ass to a new forum I joined, whether you were here first or not.

And anyways, It wouldn't be that hard to get a liscense to make the DVDs. Because, at the rate they are going, they will be almost as popular within 6 months, or less. Microsoft will see this oppertunity to advertise their product and seize it, because 2 machinimas based off of Halo and Halo 2 would be even better than one.

And you didn't PWN me at HFL. We haven't had any contests or anything. And its not like a read your posts there anyways.

First, thank you for offering to buy in bulk. Secondly, it is tough to get permission from Microsoft, I've already been through it to get permission for something else, and it wasn't dealing with a franchise anywhere near the popularity of Halo, but we are hoping for exactly the scenario LS outlines. And third, if you two must butt heads, please do so in private messages or in the Off-Topic forum. Thank you!

Yeah, we're old friends, and he knows better than to screw with me.

Now, back to the topic at hand. I know that my scenario is kinda out there, but Microsoft could be flexible. Hell, if you could get DVDs, then you could manufacture hats, clothes, soundtracks, and the like.

Although, if you did this, it would turn into another RvB clone. And we don't want that, now do we?

Mmmm...This is my first post, so I'd just like to say, Howdy.

Anyway, onto the topic of DVD's. I think this would be a much different case, considering The Codex is based WITHIN the Halo universe, opposed to RvB, which is set outside using only the game engine.

Its a 50/50 chance here, I'd say email Bungie as well. If I wasn't in my current financial situation, I'd easily purchase a DVD as well. Keep up the awesome work guys.

We already do sell shirts in our store. We probably won't add other items until our shirt sales start justifying other merchandise, but we are contemplating several options.

you guys really shouldnt have too much prob. after some episodes you'll easily be recognised to be as good as rvb (if not better). All you really need is popularity i think.

Not likely, the more popular they are (read in corporatese(the language of M$): potentially profitable) the more M$ will want from them in any deal they make.

well i started putting the episodes together with Windows DVD creator and have cut it to run smoothly. The trailer is the beginning to it. If its ok with the cast and crew, by the end of the season, i will have a full dvd. But i can stop if its bad.

By the time the DVD's would have come out, I would already have downloaded the entire series. (sorry for being cheap).

The reason to buy the DVD's is because then you arn't stuck watching the episodes on your computer. With the DVD you can watch it on a huge widescreen and with the DVD there should prob be better quality another added plus. So even if you guys were selling a DVD and I had already downloaded the entire season I would still buy one. Cuz Im a freak!!!1

On a DVD they might add bonus features as well such as the making of or the thign where they add their personal comments. They might even put in outtakes or something I don't know.
