Has anyone seen Homeland? I keep hearing good things, but for the life of me I can't find anyone who has actually seen it... Hahaha.

I've heard it won a couple of large awards, and it has Damian Lewis in it, who I have yet to see be bad in....anything. Unfortunately, it's not out in NZ yet. I also know sod all about it, so I might get it when it comes out on DVD or finished on TV or whatever and still not look anything up about it, which so far, as introduced me to things I enjoy utterly (The Boondock Saints, Jericho, Dexter, Ice and Fire series (And the TV series), The Darkness game).

I really, really enjoyed it. Strong characters and plotlines.

I would like to hear what Reaper thinks about it if he sees it though, being as he's all not American and stuff.

Nah, the show can blow it then and stuff...

Actually, I don't mind American things. I dislike it when something tries and becomes overly patriotic. It's like watching Saving Private Ryan (And the Pacific/Band of Bros.), which focused on the group of soldiers, and the comparing it to...The Patriot (Although I do still like that movie. Mel Gibson has yet to disappoint me).

And even then, it's not really dislike. It's more, it does nothing to me. Remember that level in MW2, where you are running through a street of broken homes with dead civvies on the ground and that sad music? I had not one shred of sympathy there, because there was nothing iconic aside from "Americans got killedered.". Whereas in MW3, seeing the Eiffel Tower fall? I shed a manly tear. Something that has stood for over a hundred years, that is recognised world-wide.

Yeah, Homeland looks pretty cool.

The MW2 moment hit me hard, though not as hard as that moment where you walk out of the bunker to see the Washington Monument falling apart, but then again, I'm American. I was raised in a society where these things are massive symbols, and a nation that hasn't had a major war fought on the ground in over 100 years.

That's why I'm interested in your take. It's an entirely different societal viewpoint on the subject matter.

(Also, speaking of CoD, the end of Black Ops was nauseatingly over-patriotic.)

I thought the ending for Black Ops was actually rather reserved. It seemed to focus more on the story it was telling than a patriotic atmosphere (I thought Black Ops story was rather good, compared to the MW games).

I'll try and watch a couple of episodes tonight or over the weekend.

Watched first episode. It was incredibly good. I was surprised by how not overly American it was, as in it focuses much more on the characters than anything. And it it's trying to jam American politics down your throat, unlike so many other government/military shows/movies.

And also? Morena Baccarin + boobs = Best show. Ever. Of all time.
