So is anyone else geeking the hell out as much as I am for this movie? I admit Captain America, while not necessarily bad, didn't quite live up to my expectations, but the rest of the pre-Avengers movies were pretty good.

Also, Joss Whedon, the nerdiest man in the industry who more or less fapped to these comics as a kid, is directing it, so I have some faith that this will live up to my hype.

Bloody superbowl. Three trailers so far. One somewhat actual trailer, the other two are a 13 second teaser thing and a 30 second long teaser thing. I frackin' hate teasers.

I'm also not sure how I feel about The Avengers. I never read superhero comics as a kid, and Iron man 1/2 was really the only Avenger related movie I actually enjoyed. Hulk was a'ight, but I preferred the 03 version (au contaire to almost everyone else it would seem), Captain America wasn't bad, and while not as pro-america as I was expecting, I still felt somewhat alienated. Thor was......blurgh. Not bad, not good. Nothing note-worthy aside from the scene in the coffee house. "This drink is delicious. I must HAVE MORE! *Smashes cup on ground*"

Never read the comics myself, but I've liked the movies so far (although my expectations lowered a bit after the Spider-Man 3 travesty).

Also, if it helps, here's a slightly extended version of the Super Bowl teaser. Worth it for the last ten seconds.

I was working during the Super Bowl, but I saw the Extended version last night. SO AWESOME!!!

You know, it's interesting: in the age of The Dark Knight, people seem to believe that superhero movies only work in a realistic setting. But with The Avengers, it's full-on comic book: bright colorful costumes, hero shots, over-the-top commander in black leather and eyepatch, and a rotating hero shot of all the different heroes back-to-back. And you know what? It totally works!!!

This is going to be an awesome movie.

Dayum straight . One fear I have is that they're going to focus on a couple of the characters more than the others. Most likely Iron Man and Captain America.

You mean the important Avengers everyone loves as opposed to the boring background Avengers?

Oh I dunno, Joss Whedon seems to be pretty good with balancing groups of protagonists, if Firefly and Buffy are anything to go by. Granted, he doesn't have as much time in a single movie as he does with a multiple-episode TV show, but I have faith.

I'm just hoping he does a little more with Hawkeye and Black Widow, since they were pretty secondary in Iron Man 2 and Thor (hell, Hawkeye was barely more than a cameo).

I am really excited for this! I am afraid that my expectations are a little high, yet I think that I will be okay.

I dunno, I thought Johansson's character was annoyingly unneeded in Iron Man 2, and seems added just for eye-candy in The Avengers. I may be wrong, she may have real character and be essential to the plot. But I got nothing inspiring from her.

As for Hawkeye, I never read any comics, so I have next to no idea who he was, and didn't even know he was an Avenger until the first trailer, when I saw Jeremy Renner and was all "Wait...wasn't he that one dude in that brief scene I remember from Thor?". I've liked him in other movies I've seen him in, namely 28 Weeks Later, SWAT, Hurt Locker and The Town (Which he was amazing in).

... Doyle is Hawkeye? Mind blown.

Also, yeah, Black Widow's kind of important. Not so far in the movies, but she actually is.

I see what you did there.

Ik, r? I saw him first in SWAT, and then always forgot who he was when in 28 Weeks and The Town. He's a really good actor, I wish he was in more things.

Actually I can think of three assets that she has that makes her amazing. Remember in the later scene when they were all exposed to everyone? Even Happy was surprised by them. I think I really want some of them for myself. It was really cool when she started beating people with them. Totally blew my mind. Her mini-stun grenades, garrote, and deployable electro-shock devices were awesome!

Okay. So. I haven't seen this entire movie yet. Don't hate. I took a girl this summer and I watched up until the fight scene on the aircraft carrier, fell asleep, and then woke up for the ending 45 minute fight scene(jesus, how much action is too much? Joss Whedon got a big budget for once and just went insane!). Then a week ago, a girl came over to my dorm room and we got to about the same point in the film and then she had to go to bed. So. From what I've seen, badass as all bloody satan-y satanic hell. The one thing I have an issue with is that the new hulk.......CAN NOT TAKE SERIOUSLY. He just doesn't represent what the hulk should be. Which is the opposite of what everyone else says, I know. Maybe when I see the whole thing I'll change my mind.

Pff, ten thousand posts...if only I could care about such a thing. For caring about ones' post count is as vain as a vein wanting to pump sterling silver through the body for its own lulz. And we all know how Lulz affects the world. Just look at World War 2. Did you all honestly think Hitler tried to exterminate the Jews because he wanted to crate a master race that even he looked nothing like? I SAY BALLS TO THAT! BALLS TO ALL OF THAT! Balls to so mucyh of that, that this pretentious post has nothing whatsoever in the effects of the global war economy. That's right, I f**king said it, and not when referencing MGS4. Imaginitive ten thousand post mark? I think not....

And also, I demand everyone on the forum to sig-quote that. All of you. Especially you, Geo. You British guy you.
