forever alone

I got a helmetcam yesterday and tried it out on a paintball field. I hope to publish some videos of gameplay on youtube just for kicks. The place I went to yesterday is pretty dim so you can't see much, I probably won't record there anymore and just try with other places.

I do! But you probably know that from Facebook.

I'm looking to get a helmet-cam too for the same reason, I always some great woodsball and urban-scenario games that I want people to see.

A long time ago I did, but it kinda died off around here. I still have my Tokyo Marui M16A2 though

I've always loved paintball though, and it's easy to find an audience here because there's a field on Ft. Leonard Wood where soldiers all go to play when they're bored. It's not uncommon to show up and there be 40+ soldiers wanting to play.

Once they know what they're doing it is, lol

A lot of them haven't played paintball before and just want something to do besides sit in their barracks. It's pretty funny watching soldiers try to use combat training in speedball games and then get owned by a 12-year old with an Ion. But every now and then you'll meet someone who's experienced with it; they're usually the older guys with lots of disposable income

fo sho. kids these days and their e-grips.

I run a tiberius with magfed so no paintball spamming for me , I take my time.

But I'm thinking of getting a dye rotor so I have the option to hopper it up when I need to and dish it out.

I played with a Dye rotor on my Tippman back in May. It was really cool, but I'm such a scenario player that I don't see myself ever investing in one. I try to keep it pretty simple, I guess you could say.

You know, if you do a little bit of video editing you could make it look like the HUD from Halo.

Attacht it to the top of your gun. That would be awesome!

What kind of camera did you get anyway? Personally I'm looking at a GoPro HD that I could mount centrally above the mask. They seem pretty durable too.

yes i'm thinking of getting the rail mount so i could put it on my gun.

i have the contourROAM.

I picked contour over gopro because mounting a camera on the side of the helmet made more sense to me than on the top where it's more exposed and more likely to get shot, not to mention it's not very sneaky.

Contour is a solid choice, definitely. And with the GoPro you can side-mount it too, and in a game I'm not really worried about being sneaky. As for the camera getting shot, I think that's a risk no matter where you mount it on the helmet, and they're pretty solid so I think the worst you would have to worry about is it just ruining the shot.

so a few weeks ago I picked up a prototype paintball marker that I'd been waiting for for over 6 months, the company (Carmatech) finally got it out and shipped it to us beta testers. here's some pics! One of me holding it in my room, i took it to show the Carmatech guys that I got it, and the second is of me and a couple of buddies that I play with at a local paintball field.

It's called the SAR12 by Carmatech. It's a bolt-action paintball rifle convertible into a regular semi-auto paintball rifle. Pretty neat stuff, it's got some quirks but overall not bad for a beta product, we're hoping to get it all fleshed out by early 2013 so they can release the full production model.

I used to paintball a ton when I was 11-12 years old. I played with my dad and all of his friends, and all of his friend's children.

It was pretty fun, but I never really got into it much because it was pretty expensive to maintain. When I was playing, Co2 canisters and large, bulk packages of paintballs were too costly for my dad's tastes.

I'm not entirely sure on just how expensive it was, but we'd go through one bulk package of paintballs in less than a day, and refilling canisters was about $40.

That looks pretty mad....and the front half seems similar to an FN FAL.

Paintball tech has changed a lot in the past 8-10 years, now everything's HPA unless you explicitly need CO2, it's just way too inefficient and expensive. Paintballs are also cheaper than they used to be. It's still can be an expensive sport but it depends on how you play.

@Reaper, the rifle is based off of the Remington MSR, you can look that up. It is very similar.
