Zombie in my opinion, is a Human that has died, and brought back to life. Getting bit by one turns you into a zombie. They can run, shuffle a long, or somewhere in between. Main part is that they are actually undead.

28 days later is just humans infected with Rage virus, who just want to kill everything. Big difference between Zombies, and Infected (even though the end result may be very similiar)

Zombie is a dead person that has come back to life but bastardised. The zombie cannot run, since the body has decomposed and mucles have stiffened, etc. Not to mention running uses more brain power (PUN INTENDED! than simply sticking an entire stiffened leg forward. Romero zombies, essentially...and maybe the ones from The Walking Dead.

Although I did love in Day Of The Dead remake (also terrible) how it tried to scientifically explain how zombies run, and how they can Mirrors Edge around....wtf....

Already done that. Remake was....terrible, for lack of a better word. But Vingh (SP?) Rhames (SP?) did kick some srs ass.

How was the Dawn of the Dead remake terrible? I seen the first one, and it was rubbish. It was a comedy, not a horror movie.

And are you talking about the "stiffened" muscels from the already dead people in graves? What if they bit alive people, they died, and came back? They would be able to run me thinks.

Do you have any idea how much (For lack of better wording) brain processing power goes into running? Not only do you have to concerntrate on where you're running, but foot placement, joint movement, etc. For a a zombie brain....that's the equivalent of a human trying to run Crysis in their sleep....in their brain.

As for Dawn of the Dead, the original was a 1978 B movie. 2004 was nothing but shooting, swearing and had so little depth, a retarded shellfish couldn't drown in it. When comparing the two, of course the older one is going to suck, the 04 version has nearly thirty years of zombie movies going for it. But when compared to the rest of movies at the time, Dawn was a friggin' gold mine. THe new one was a running zombie wankathon.

On another note, have first episode. I love it!

You have 1st episode of The Walking Dead!? ohmy.gif *bows down*

I guess you have a point in that whole brain running thing. I just like the running zombies cause it's more of a danger than one shambling zombie that you can just power walk past it.

The whole reason the walking ones are creepier, is that they don't tire. So sure, they walk slowly, but hey will never stop. Granted, same can go for running ones, but nevereding shuffling just seems.....better.

And in video games, makes them a million times easier to kill so you don't need a f**k tonne of health like Left 4 Dead.

Running zombies are more of a threat lol. Imagine a horde of zombies running at ya. Now imagine the same size horde, but just shuffleing. Obviously you have a much less chance to live with the running zombies.

And back on topic. I LOVED the first episode of TWD. Some parts dragged on too long. My most memorable part was when he woke up in the hospital and thought his friend was there, then relising it had to have been a few weeks since that happened.

Yeah, but when faced with a horde of runners, they're not a threat. Because you ARE going to die. There is no escape. Therefore, there is no real "Oh crap! Can I survive this or not?" Whereas with walkers (For the win!), you think you've escaped, only for the same one to follow you unknowingly for sometimes weeks. Besides...walkers are traditional. As far as I know, runners were brought around by the 28 _____ Later series. And they weren't zombies. So when the hell did running zombies even come around?

I thought the parts that went on were brilliant! Made it feel slightly more.....more. Not just cutting from talking to zombie killing and back and forth. Like when the black guy from Jericho spends about two full minutes aiming at his wife. It wasn't a crappy "oh, I'm sorry Honey" *BANG!*. Hell, he doesn't even fire. Or when Rick is walking through the hospital. From when he leaves his room to when he leaves the loading bay with all the bodies, that was about ten or so minutes. And it added to both the suspense (Of waiting for something to happen) and the atmosphere (Of no one anywhere).

Like the crawler in the park.

However, I expect it'll be toned down from now on. Pilot episodes for shows are generally more violent/profane/sexy/etc. Then they become somewhat trimmed down. And then released on DVD in an uncut version which is a million times better (I.E. Blade TV Series). It's like seeing a....(Ugh...need to use US ratings for you) PG-13 movie, and then the DVD is the equivalent of an NC-17. (Also, again, your rating system is stupid!)

Actually, aside from the blatant naked chick in SG-1, it was relatively the same for much of the series.

Yeah, as shown with the "human flesh ghillie suit" they made in episode 2 to avoid the zombies in the street. I felt like such a bastard for laughing when he started hacking away with the ax right after his heartfelt speech about who the zombie used to be.

I'm kinda disappointed that Duane and Morgan weren't in this episode. I hope they show up in later episodes, they're great characters and Morgan's struggle to kill his zombified wife was definitely an interesting story in itself.
